Professional Services
I offer academic editing, copyediting and editorial support for postgraduate researchers, academics, and writers working in research-led and creative contexts. My services suit postgraduate researchers, academic authors, and writers preparing manuscripts for institutional or journal submission.
My approach is careful, ethical, and focused on clarity, structure, and scholarly standards. You can find previous editorial work for various clients listed in my CV and selected testimonials below.
Professional Standards
I work with the following Australian standards:
Academic Editing
Academic editing focuses on clarity, coherence, and consistency in scholarly writing. I work on spelling, grammar, sentence structure, tone, and flow, as well as checking citations, dates, and reference lists for internal consistency and style. This service does not involve writing content, generating arguments, or altering the author’s intellectual position (see Editorial Support below). My work aligns with university and publisher guidelines for ethical academic practice. This service suits a writer who has a final draft ready for precision editing prior to submission.
Writing & Editorial Support
This service offers broader academic writing and creative writing support. This may include structural feedback, clarity edits, or editorial review of drafts intended for later submission. The emphasis is always on supporting the author’s voice and argument, not replacing it through rewriting. This service suits a writer in planning mode, draft mode, or needing more comprehensive editorial support to assist in completing a manuscript.
Fees & Availability
Fees are calculated based on document type, length, complexity, and timeframe.
Academic copyediting is typically charged per word. Rates are set at a level appropriate to graduate-level academic editing and vary depending on scope and timeline.
Writing and editorial support is generally charged at an hourly rate, typically ranging from AU$90–120 per hour, depending on the nature of the work.
I take on a limited number of projects each year to ensure attention to detail and quality. Availability is best when enquiries are made well in advance.
