This issue questions international and Australian experimental models and practices. Are funding models stifling experimentation in Artist Run Initiatives? Are Biennales a seedbed for testing new models? What happens when art escapes the gallery and goes underwater or into space? Political radicalism and experiments in propaganda in art from the occupy movement.

Artlink is a quarterly, peer-reviewed magazine about contemporary art and ideas from Australia and the Asia-Pacific. Each issue is themed with a focus on criticism, theory, politics and reviews.

For this guest edition, Experiment, Din interviewed several curators of Australia's largest biennales, and commissioned articles about collaborations by artists working with scientific, environmental, political and social agencies in Australia and abroad.

The issue was launched at RMIT Gallery by Dr Sarah Jane Pell (who wrote the cover story 'Every space project needs an artist' about her colleagues’ collaborative work with NASA and ESA). The launch coincided with Speak To Me: 5th International Biennial of Media Art, curated by Abigail Moncrieff, who was also interviewed for the issue.

Featured writers, artists and curators include: Dr Sarah Jane Pell, Bradley Pitts, Angelo Vermeulen, Tine Holvoet, Jae Rhim Lee, Alicia Framis, Dr Donald Brook, Dr Paul Downton, Peter Drew, James Dodd, Phip Murray, Greatest Hits, Zara Stanhope, Lisa Radford, Christopher LG Hill, Helen Hughes, Zoe Scoglio, Laura Castagnini, The Guerilla Girls, Dr Vincent Alessi, Carl Scrase, Christopher Kennedy, Erica Curry, Paula Damasceno, Aislinn Pentecost-Farrin, Wythe Marschall, Ethan Gould, Capp Larsen, Elsewhere, Roberts Street Social Center, Catherine de Zegher, Adam Cvijanovic, Jonathan Jones, Susan Hefuna, Alexie Glass-Kantor, Natasha Bullock, Tom Nicholson, Marco Fusinato, Tim Silver, Abigail Moncrieff, Katie Turnbull, Sylvie Blocher, Young-Hae Chang Heavy Industries, Niki Sperou, Ray Harris, Anusha Kenny, Alex Selenitch, Fee Plumley, Emma Beech, Kelli McCluskey, PVI Collective, Sapna Chandu, Paul Yore, BoatPeople.Org, Dario Vacirca, Roberta Rich, Danielle Robson, Nina Stromqvist, Julian Day, Elizabeth Willing, Dara Gill and Brianna Munting.
