PLATFORM ARTISTS GROUP INC.

Artistic Director of Platform Artists Group Inc.

Platform is a public contemporary art organisation in Melbourne dedicated to showing work from local and international artists. Platform's main exhibition space was formerly located in Degraves Street Subway, the pink art deco underpass to Flinders Street Station.

From 2006 to 2010, Din managed Platform with co-director and artist Anita King (now based in NYC). Highlights were introducing the Emerging Curator in Residence (with Anusha Kenny and Laura Castagnini), offering new artist residencies in performance art and interactive media, and developing co-productions with festivals including Melbourne Food and Wine, Midsumma, Fringe, Melbourne Fashion, and Next Wave.

Din curated and programmed more than 250 artists in solo and group exhibitions, increased the organisation's income, and implemented a professional arts board. Following a series of controversial exhibitions, Din worked with NAVA and other industry groups to improve government commitments to freedom of expression for artists.

ABC-TV ran a Sunday Arts program featuring an interview with Din about Platform and the Making Space project. Other media such as The Age, Herald-Sun, 3AW, 3RRR, Lonely Planet, ABC Radio, and The Thousands regularly covered events at Platform.

Visit the Platform website.

(UPDATE 2015: The main subway space is now managed by Creative Spaces for City of Melbourne).
